Weekend Activities

What a weekend it will be! Aside from all the festivities we are planning for the ultimate celebration with the best people ever, including Friday night after the rehearsal dinner for those in from out of town and Sunday morning brunch, Asbury has some big activities as well!

RunAPalooza
Want to get a quick (or long) run in before you stuff your face all night? There is a 5k and half-marathon starting at 8am on Saturday, April 22nd! Let us know if you are interested in running, there is some talk about a groomsmen party run…

Asbury Park Film Festival
The Asbury Park Music & Film Festival is unlike any other event of its kind in that it explores and celebrates a single, and perhaps the most dramatic, aspect of cinema…the role of music in film.

The Festival will benefit the underserved children in Asbury Park; one the most challenged youth communities in the country by providing music education, instruments and social connection opportunities.

The Area

We’ll put together a whole list of things to do along with things we plan for you, but in the meantime here’s a little info on the area…

This historic shore town features one of the best beaches in the state. Along with endless sand, great surf and unlimited fun, you’ll find a revitalized Boardwalk that’s better than ever. Unique shops, eclectic restaurants with breathtaking views and the crown jewel—the restored Paramount Theater and Convention Hall.

Throughout the year, the historic downtown comes alive for numerous events from block parties, to parades, to the monthly First Saturday celebration where shops and restaurants stay open late. Some of the most popular events are Asbury Park Restaurant Tour, Fourth of July Fireworks, Oysterfest, and the world record breaking NJ Zombie Walk.
While in town, enjoy the city’s diverse and thriving restaurant scene. From Japanese to Mediterranean to Italian, it’s all here and it’s delicious. Newer restaurants like Kim Marie’s Eat & Drink Away, Bank on Mattison, and Cibo e Vino have quickly established themselves as culinary gems alongside favorites like Jimmy’s Italian Restaurant, Brando’s Citi Cucina, Moonstruck, Stella Marina, Langosta Lounge and Tim McLoone’s Supper Club.
Asbury Park is one of the top ten places to listen to music according to USA Today. The legendary Stone Pony, where Bruce Springsteen has made numerous appearances, is one of the world’s most famous music “scenes.” Asbury Park is also home to two theatre companies: The Premier Theatre Company who have been producing classic Broadway theater in the area for over 30 years and the ReVision Theatre who are dedicated to bringing invigorating theater with a fresh perspective to Asbury Park.
